Grey is mining zeros and carries no randomness. The last 48 characters split into three.

Numbers were set by block 969,529, mined after entries closed and before anyone knew the draw block. Your spot is the position of sha256(block id + ":" + your gamertag, lowercased) among all entrants, sorted ascending. Check your own on any SHA-256 tool.

The leaderboard is for bragging rights. Everyone past 25 hours has exactly one entry, so playing more does not improve your odds.

Nobody at Husk picks the winners

When entries close on October 1, 2026, everyone who qualified gets a numbered spot on a public list. You will be able to find your own number right here.

Then we need something random to pick from that list. If we rolled dice in private, you would just have to take our word for it. So instead we use a number the whole world watches get created.

Every ten minutes the Bitcoin network publishes a new block, and each one carries a long string of digits nobody can predict or influence. We are announcing now exactly which one we will use: The first Bitcoin block mined after 3:00 PM ET on Wednesday 14 October 2026, the day before Badlands releases. When it appears, its digits tell us how far to count down the list. Where the count stops, that is a winner. 3 times, 3 winners.

The list is locked before the number exists. The number is born after the list is locked. Neither one can be bent to fit the other.

You do not need to follow any of this to enter. It is here so that if someone ever asks whether this was rigged, the answer is “check it yourself” instead of “trust me.”

Show me the math›

Block IDs always begin with a long run of zeros, a byproduct of mining, so the front of the ID carries no randomness at all. We use the last 48 characters and split them into three chunks of 16: A, B, C. Each chunk converts from hex to an ordinary number.

With N entrants numbered 1 to N, winner one is (A mod N) + 1. That name is removed and the rest renumbered, then winner two is (B mod N−1) + 1, and winner three is (C mod N−2) + 1. Drawing without replacement means nobody can be picked twice.

Paste any block ID below with an entrant count and watch the arithmetic run in your own browser. Read the block from mempool.space, blockchain.com or blockchair.com. They are three windows onto the same ledger, so the ID is identical on all of them.

Rules

  • Free to enter. There is nothing to buy and nothing to donate.
  • You need 25 hours of in-game time on Husk RP logged between July 26, 2026 and October 1, 2026. Time played before the contest opened does not count.
  • You must be in the Husk RP Discord with your gamertag linked through the bot. That link is how your hours are matched to you.
  • You must be in good standing. An active ban at the time entries close makes you ineligible.
  • Husk RP staff are not eligible to win.
  • One entry per qualifying player. Extra hours are bragging rights, not extra tickets.
  • 3 winners are drawn at 3:00 PM ET on 14 October 2026, the day before Badlands releases, and contacted through Discord.
  • Each winner receives a Microsoft gift card for the price of the Badlands DLC, so it works on your own account and region.
  • Gift cards are tied to a country, so we will ask which region your Xbox account is in before we buy yours.
  • If we cannot buy a card that works where you are, we will work with you to find something of the same value that does.
  • If there is genuinely no way to get a prize to you, we may draw again. We cannot send what we cannot buy.
  • Winners have 7 days to reply after we contact you on Discord. After that we draw again, so nobody waits on a name that never answers.
  • Any tax on a prize is the winner's own. We may exclude a country we cannot legally send a prize to.
  • This giveaway is run by Husk RP and is not sponsored by or affiliated with Bohemia Interactive or Microsoft.

Husk is whitelisted, so you apply through Discord first. Get approved, link your gamertag, and every hour after that counts toward the draw.
